Appearance:

Marlene is 5’6”, taller than girls around her, but really not too bad. She has dirty blonde hair which is thrown back into a ponytail most of the time. She has dark eyes, and a lithe frame, fit for sports. When not in her uniform (which she keeps clean, usually), Marlene dresses casually and comfortably. She’s fairly organized, but not to the point of ridiculousness. She has a habit on drumming on things or people, and usually fidgets a bit. During classes, her toe taps, legs jingle, and quills tap against the inkwells. She’s a smile person, and can have a pretty crude sense of humor on occasion.

History:

A sixth-year Gryffindor, Marlene (or Marly) is a muggleborn from Kent. She grew up with her family in the suburbs. She has a loving family and is particularly close with her older muggle brother, Ethan. She had a happy childhood and a few good friends. Her family is middle class, and Marlene's family had no idea that she was a witch until she got her letter. But, that doesn't mean that no signs were ever present. For example, when Marlene was young, her older brother forced her to go on a roller coaster (even though she was terrified of the drop). Right before the one big loop, the car suddenly came to a stop right side up and the ride had to be shut down. No one could figure out why, but Marlene knew before it happened that she wanted it to end. Later, it was discovered that her great aunt was a witch as well. Eleven year old Marlene couldn't wait to get started in school.

Personality:

Overall, Marlene is balanced. She is not shy, yet she's not outgoing. She prefers to be casual, and to get along with everyone. She's very close to the other Gryffindor girls, and is friendly with people in the other houses. She doesn't really have an opinion on Slytherins. but if they antagonize, she will respond.

A clever girl, Marlene is studious just to maintain her good grades. Her favorite classes are Defense Against the Dark Arts, and she’s fond of Transfiguration as well. Marlene aspires to teach once she’s done school. She usually pays attention in her classes (except for History of Magic, but that can’t be helped.) She also tends to help out anyone who needs it academically, and can sometimes be spotted in the Gryffindor common room tutoring younger students.

Marlene has a big girly crush on Sirius Black, it’s lasted for a about a few months, but she’s upset that they’re “just friends”. She is not boy crazy, but enjoys eye candy as much as the next person. She’s not very flirtatious because she tends to be “one of the guys”, her male friends even go so far as to call her “Mack”. Unfortunately, she longs for the support and physical benefits of a relationship although she’s not about to throw her virginity away.

Sporty and low-maintenance, Marlene is the Seeker for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. She isn’t nearly as obsessed as James is, but she enjoys competition. Her other hobbies include chess, reading, and something new called “paintball”. Her appetite is large, and Marlene definitely loves mealtimes. She even sneaks down to the kitchens, too, for midnight snacks. The house elves are her best friends.
